Deltarune + Weed? Meet STONED: a Truly Sobering RPG

At this point, Deltarune is a certified hood classic, with the June 5th launch of its third and fourth chapters even temporarily crashing Steam's servers. But what if you took its loveable characters, heartfelt story, and quirky atmosphere, and instead sprinkled in gangsters, crude jokes, and plenty of weed? No, you aren't tripping: this is the world of STONED.

Developed by newcomer Team Quivurr, the game follows three stoners named Lil Bro, Big Bro, and Cole, whose days of getting high in the Hood are interrupted when they accidentally become possessed by the soul of an Ancient Cosmic Wizard. After learning they have a sacred, prophesized duty to resurrect the guy, the trio agrees to do everything in their power to...avoid that responsibility. They learn about 3 magical stones that, if collected, can be used in a ritual to remove the Wizard's soul from them, and set out on a quest to find them.

Fans of Deltarune will be right at home with STONED's combat system, but the game brings a few new twists to the table. When in battle, each of the stoners gets a turn to attack, use an item, etc. standard RPG business so far. But then, it's the enemy's turn. Red and blue projectiles are shot towards the player and must be destroyed before they reach the end of the screen, or else they will deal damage. Red projectiles are deflected with a swing of the red sword, whereas blue projectiles are absorbed by the blue shield.

Enemies will keep you on your toes throughout fights by switching up their patterns and the colors of their attacks, so watch out!

As you make your way through STONED, you'll discover magical spells, solve puzzles, bond with your fellow stoners, meet loveable NPCs, and definitely piss off a few drug lords, too. Just be careful, not everything in this game is as it seems.

Team Quivurr will be releasing a demo later this year on November 7th, so it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer before we can get our STONED fix. in the meantime, you can wishlist the game on Steam and follow the devs on Twitter!

Hello! I'm Noah, a game designer, content creator, composer, and HUGE Nintendo nerd. I run things around this place.

I started The Indie Times because, as a developer, I struggled getting my game "out there" into the vast stretches of the Internet. With this site, I aim to help other devs do just that, expose players to new and exciting releases, and (hopefully) have a lot of fun along the way!
